We do not install tuning slide braces on our horns because we have found the player preference for these varies. We’ve utilized adjustable braces in our play-testing process for a long time to help fit instruments to players, but now we are offering them to our clients.
These braces tend to make the instrument a little more stable, in many cases help with intonation, and also in many cases help the player hear better behind the horn. I say in many cases because the results with this product have varied so much. Some players like the horn better without it, but some feel like the brace really benefits their playing.
The brace being adjustable allows the player to set it on the instrument wherever feels best to them, AND it allows the brace to be used for reverse or standard tuning horns. Most commonly, the adjustable brace is set inside the tuning slide or at the end of the leadpipe. These braces are designed to fit all Del Quadro Bb and C trumpets and we have found them to fit many other horns from other manufacturers as well.
