Used 1886 Besson Brevete Bb cornet with original mouthpiece, good condition. This 19th century large-bore cornet was relacquered at some point, and about 95% of the new lacquer remains intact, with some evidence of minor repairs here and there but no sign of severe trauma. The valves were originally unplated brass as was popular at the time but were later replated in nickel. Interestingly there are no water keys on this cornet, just dump slides. The horn has been professionally cleaned and lubricated, and compression is best with a thick oil like Berp 3. With the original deep cup mouthpiece, the sound is very traditional and round with good response and intonation, but with a Bach 3C it picks up a little zing -- great for concert band or early jazz. No case.
