This used 1949 King Silvertone cornet has a sterling silver bell and about 60% of the original lacquer remaining on the body. We gave it a professional cleaning and precision valve alignment, and compression is best with a slightly thicker oil like Hetman 3. There's some evidence of repairs to the leadpipe and some wear to the brass at the hand contact points, but none of this affects playability. This vintage horn has a robust cornet sound that holds together well at any dynamic leve. It plays dark enough for concert band and modern jazz but can brighten up for some traditional jazz as well, and the valve action is very good. No case.
