Used Yamaha YFH-231S Bb flugelhorn in silver plate, very good condition. This well-made intermediate flugelhorn is perfect for trumpet players who want an easy, affordable flugel for doubling. Its .448" bore is much closer to that of a trumpet, so the blow is similar, and although it lacks a trigger on the first or third slide, intonation is quite good. (We tested it with a Yamaha 14F4 mouthpiece, which is a large Morse taper and fit very well.) The sound has the characteristic darkness of a flugel, but it does have a bit of punch to it for cutting through an ensemble when needed. We gave it a professional cleaning and precision valve alignment, and apart from some surface scratches this horn is in great shape with no evidence of serious trauma or red rot. Compression and valve action are both very good with Yamaha Regular synthetic oil. Comes with original case.
