On consignment with us is a very rare CF Schmidt horn in raw nickel silver from the early 1920's. CF Schmidt horns are quite sought after and have a long history of great players and builders using and copying them. This horn is quite rare as it is one of the few known solid nickel silver horns to exist. The horn plays great with an easy upper register and very pronounced slots. The sound is more bold and full in comparison to the average brass Schmidt horn and delightful to play.
We gave the horn a thorough professional cleaning, and the overall condition of the horn is fair, though it could use a fair amount of dent work and new bearing plates. The rotors and pistons were rebuilt at some point and hold a compression of ~80%. There are 10 nickel silver patches on the horn, mostly at contact points on the bell and piston ports. There is also a nickel silver graft on the bell flare and a small patch on the outside of the graft. Comes with case.
