This used Engelbert Schmid Double French horn is in good condition and comes with an assortment of accessories, including a hand guard, a Cardo case, a Jo-Ral stop mute, Cardo mute bag, and 2 Laskey mouthpieces (75G Euro and 75G US). We gave it a professional cleaning and precision rotor alignment. It has had some repairs and a bell cut--all done elsewhere--prior to arriving at our shop, resulting in some lacquer loss in a few places, but about 85% of the lacquer remains. There's some surface wear throughout, but nothing serious and no evidence of significant trauma. The flare has some scratches and a few very minor imperfections, but the nickel kranz is in fantastic shape.
This horn has fantastic rotor action and plays with a compact, light, bright sound (thanks in part to the nickel slide tubes, leadpipe, and kranz), making it an excellent choice for chamber music and smaller ensembles, though it also works well for soloistic and orchestral playing. It also has a Joy key for keeping the horn water-free, and the package includes some extra water wicks.
The Cardo backpack case interior is in very good shape, as are the zippers and straps. The exterior has some wear/fuzziness around the bottom but nothing that affects the case or cover's overall integrity.
