FROM LONG ISLAND BRASS:

The Long Island Brass Company Romero model is a trombone mouthpiece that delivers it all. As Principal Trombonist of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and a successful soloist, composer, and chamber musician, Sasha Romero needs equipment that can withstand the loudest Strauss tone poem on stage and the most delicate Mozart chorus in the pit. And the Romero model does just that.

Specifications

  • 525SR – 25.25mm/0.994” ID Rim, slightly smaller than a 6 1/2AL, this mouthpiece is designed to help you crush high repertoire without sacrifice to the power or vibrancy of sound.

    • 6.73mm/ .265” Throat

    • From Sasha: “It’s a more agile mouthpiece with very easy flexibility and articulation, and the sound is surprisingly big for the specs, so you get more compactness but without losing a characteristic orchestral sound. Also, it makes the high notes easier lol, and I can project quite a bit more on this compared to my 4 that I play on normally. The low notes are still there though, and I can easily hit pedal Ds and Cs on it”

    • Sasha plays and recommends the T1 backbore on this model.

  • 550SR – 25.5mm/ 1.003” ID Rim, similar to a 5G, great for light orchestral work

    • 7.11mm/ .280” Throat

  • 600SR – 26mm/ 1.023” ID Rim, the perfect do-it-all and Sasha’s preferred mouthpiece

    • 7.11mm/ .280” Throat

  • 650SR – 26.5mm/ 1.043” ID Rim, similar to a 3G for days where you need more room

    • 7.11mm/ .280” Throat

Backbore Designs

  • T1 – Offers more control and clear slotting in the upper tessitura

  • T2 – Opens the mouthpiece for large volumes and offers a warmer

    sound

  • T3 – The most open option. Great for a broad, diffused for ballads or lyrical pieces
