Used 1970 King 5B Symphony large-bore tenor trombone with F attachment in very good condition. We gave this vintage honey-kissed horn a professional cleaning and precision rotor alignment, and the horn is in great playing shape. Cosmetically, the horn has some miles on it: There is evidence of past repairs in the bell stem, main tuning slide, and the tube leading from the fitting to the rotor port. The horn shows some wear to the signature King yellow-gold lacquer, with about 85–90% remaining on both the bell section and handslide. There are other minor imperfections here and there, but nothing that affects playability.
Mechanically, the horn is in excellent shape. Rotor action and compression are very strong, and the linkage feels tight and secure. Slide action is smooth and responsive with a combination of Yamaha slide lubricant and Trombotine.
This 5B produces a huge, warm sound that projects well and won't break up at any dynamic. It has the familiar feel of a King 3B but scaled up with a larger bell, symphonic bore, and F attachment, making it an excellent choice for 2B/3B players looking to double on a large-bore trombone. It's great for orchestral or brass band use, as a step-up instrument from a small-bore horn, or even for marching band.
Comes with the original case (missing one latch) and King 29 mouthpiece.
