Used Rath R4 large bore straight tenor trombone with nickel silver bell, handslide and main tuning slide. We gave this trombone a full professional cleaning and lubricated all moving parts. The bell is in good condition, with some evidence of minor repairs to the flare and a few small gouges, likely from a mouthpiece drop, but it's all purely cosmetic. The main tuning slide also shows signs of prior minor repairs. There is no plating wear on the bell section except for a tiny area on the forward brace. The handslide shows plating wear at the usual contact points and on the end crook, as well as a surface scratch on one of the outer tubes and general surface wear throughout. Despite the cosmetics, the slide action is excellent. In playtesting, this horn speaks easily and projects well, with a big, dark sound that still carries plenty of clarity and brilliance thanks to the nickel silver. It’s a responsive and versatile instrument that can adapt to a variety of musical settings. Comes with 41A modular leadpipe, no case included.
