This used 1975 Benge 3X Bb trumpet in silver plate is in very good condition. We cleaned it and gave it a precision valve alignment, and the valve action and compression are excellent.

There’s the very faint beginning of red rot in the leadpipe, but it’s minimal, easily managed with proper care, and not a structural concern. The horn shows evidence of prior repairs to the bell flare and some surface scratches from use, but there’s no plating loss and no signs of serious trauma.

Lightweight and versatile, this Benge makes a great all-around trumpet. With a medium-depth mouthpiece like a Bach 5C, it produces a balanced tone that’s lively but not overly bright, with just enough resistance to lean on. It’s an excellent section horn—responsive, centered, and easy to blend. Swap in a lead mouthpiece, and it becomes a firecracker of a commercial horn with crisp articulation, quick response, and secure slotting.
