Used 2000 Selmer Chorus 80J Bb trumpet with black lacquer, custom made for jazz great Dr. Eddie Henderson and later owned by trumpeter Rashawn Ross, who recorded a Grammy-nominated album on it (Dave Matthews Band's Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King, 2010). We gave this incredible piece of music history a thorough professional cleaning, taking pains not to remove any of the hip jazz licks or effortless triple C's, and we precision-aligned the valves. The glossy black lacquer is 100% intact except for some very small nicks on the back turn and receiver, and there are very minor spots of unevenness in the lacquer on the flare. The black lacquer contrasts beautifully with the gold plated trim and nickel slides. No rot or significant repairs. Valve compression and action are both excellent.

In our playtests, it was freeblowing but very manageable, with a sound that retains its warmth even with a lead mouthpiece, though we playtested with a Bach 6C we got a dark, fluid jazz sound with lots of presence and clarity. This is a true collectible player, fantastic for jazz soloists horn. Comes with original case.
