This used 2001 Calicchio 1S/2 Bb trumpet (Hollywood-era) in silver plate came to us from the estate of late lead trumpeter Tony Gorruso (Buddy Rich, Frank Sinatra, Kanye West, Spyro Gyra, Miss Saigon, and many more). We gave it a professional cleaning and precision valve alignment. Condition is good overall. The silver plating is intact with the exception of significant bubbling on the leadpipe from red rot, especially on the valve side forward of the receiver. However, the dezincification inside the pipe is relatively minor, so the issue looks worse than it is, and there are no holes in the tube. There is also a minor ping on the leadpipe side of the back turn, a small blemish on the bell near the forward Z brace, and some light scratches throughout. Valve action is very good, with compression best using a thicker oil such as Berp 3. There are no signs of major trauma or major repairs.
In playtesting, the horn was free-blowing and responsive, with very good intonation and plenty of brilliance. This is an excellent all-around horn -- the same model used many players on your favorite records from the last several decades. It's especially well-suited for soloists, big bands, rock/commercial and pit orchestra work.
