Used Monette MB-111 Bb trumpet in silver plate, good condition. This is Monette's "entry-level" trumpet, but it certainly doesn't play like a bottom-tier horn! It's got a wide sound that can be dark and creamy with an all-around mouthpiece like a Bach 1 1/2C, but in our playtesting we got it to light up very nicely with a lead mouthpiece. The feel is secure but free-blowing thanks to the rounded main tuning slide and ML-plus bore. We gave it a professional cleaning and precision valve alignment -- valve action is excellent, and compression is best with a slightly thicker oil like Yamaha Vintage. The silver plate (unusual for a Monette, possibly a replate) is nearly completely intact. It does have some surface wear including some scratches and blemishes, plus there's evidence of significant repairs on the leadpipe, tuning slides and a few other spots, but none of this affects playability. No case.

This is our entry-level Bb trumpet, suitable for all musical situations - classical playing, big band section, commercial, and even lead trumpet. Like all Monette instruments, it is made to order - one at a time - for each client we work with. The design is an extensively upgraded version of our best 1980s Chicago-era Bb trumpets - made with the same quality of parts and construction used in our new 40th Anniversary custom instruments. The original 1984 version of this instrument, serial number 111, was made for London-based composer and soloist Guy Barker.
